Justice Department allots $49.85 million dedicated to legal services and family safety.
The Department of Justice recently announced that their Office on Violence Against Women is providing $49.85 million in grants to programs for victims of gender-based violence. Fifty-nine grantees were awarded $35 million under the Legal Assistance for Victims Program, and 26 grantees were awarded $14 million under the Justice for Families Program.
“These grants will help expand access to the services and support that are essential to bringing justice within reach for survivors of gender-based violence,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland. “The Department’s Office on Violence Against Women will continue its important work to empower survivors with the resources they need to navigate our justice system, including by expanding access to legal representation, language assistance, and court-related programs.”
